Legato is a square canvas painted by hand in deep earth red, brushed in soft, cloudy layers so the colour shifts as the light moves across it. At its centre, a square of fine vertical lines is embroidered by hand in ivory thread, each line laid close beside the next. In music, legato means smooth and connected: notes that flow into one another without a break. That is the feeling here: calm, continuous, quietly rhythmic.

Warm enough for a living room, minimal enough for a bedroom or a study. Up close you see the twist of every thread and the grain of the painted canvas; from across the room it reads as one clear square of light on a warm ground.
