The piece

Andante is a wool canvas in four slow rows: short lines of chestnut, caramel and cream wool, each one stitched by hand on a natural cotton-and-wool ground. In music, andante is a walking pace, and that is the rhythm here: calm, even, never in a hurry. Up close you see the twist of every strand; from across the room it reads as quiet, warm texture.

It hangs both ways. Hang it horizontally above a sofa, a sideboard or a desk, or vertically in a hallway, beside a bed or on a narrow wall. One piece, two moods.

  • 100% wool thread, hand-stitched on stretched canvas covered in a cotton and wool fabric
  • Stretched over a sturdy wooden frame, reinforced at the back
  • Size: 59 × 49 cm (23 × 19 in), hangs horizontally or vertically
  • Weight: 616 g
  • One of a kind: small variations in the wool make every piece unique
  • Handmade in Porto, Portugal

Neutral enough for any room, textured enough to be noticed.
