Crochet bunny decor can be quiet and textured. At Nyra Atelier, the Nyra Bunny Family was made for grown-up shelves. These are six figures crocheted by hand in Porto, meant to sit among books, ceramics and the quiet objects you keep because they make a room feel like yours.

The bunnies are one collection within a wider atelier practice built on texture and process, alongside our thread art, wool canvases and macramé. Here is how they are made, how to live with them, and how to keep them looking as they did on the day they left the studio.

Decorative collectibles, made for collectors

Let us be clear from the start: the bunnies of the Nyra Bunny Family are decorative pieces, not toys, intended for collectors aged 14 and over. They are made to be looked at, arranged and kept, in the same way you might keep a small sculpture or a favourite hand-thrown cup.

That intention shapes everything about them, from the calm expression of the embroidered sleeping eyes to the outfits, which are made to be taken off and put back on. They are soft, but considered. Each one has a quiet presence that suits a shelf.

Six bunnies, six characters

Each bunny has its own palette and its own way of standing out from a shelf. Together they read as a family; apart, each holds its own.

  • Mia, about 28.5 cm, in a navy dress with a bow headband. Deep, composed and easy to place beside dark book spines or wood.
  • Theo, about 37 cm, in light blue overalls with a bow and ruffled socks. At that height, he can anchor a display.
  • Celeste, in a sky blue dress with a flower headband. Airy and light, lovely near a window.
  • Sol, in a yellow dress and ruffled shoes. A small patch of warmth for a pale or neutral room.
  • Luna, in grey and cream stripes with a flower headband. Soft, muted and endlessly adaptable.
  • Rosa, in pink and beige stripes with a pink bow. Gentle colour that sits well with linen, clay and natural wood.

Each bunny is 39,90 €.

Made by hand in Porto

Every bunny begins as 100% cotton yarn in the hands of Sónia Bizarro, the founder and maker of Nyra Atelier, in her studio in Porto. Crochet is a slow, rhythmic craft: a single hook, one loop drawn through another, round after round, until a flat line of yarn becomes a shape you can hold.

Cotton gives the bunnies a soft, matte surface and clear stitch definition, so the texture of the work stays visible up close. Once the body is formed, it is filled with polyester filling and shaped by hand. The sleeping eyes are embroidered rather than attached, which keeps the faces calm and understated. Finally, each bunny is dressed in its outfit, made to be removable.

It is the same attention to texture and process that runs through everything in the atelier, whether the material is wool thread on canvas, cotton cord or crochet yarn.

Crochet bunny decor, styled for grown-up rooms

The bunnies slip easily into almost any arrangement, and are characterful enough to change how a corner feels. A few ideas to start with:

On a bookshelf

Place a bunny at the end of a row of books, leaning slightly against the spines, or sitting on a short horizontal stack. Mia's navy dress reads beautifully against cloth-bound covers, while Luna's grey and cream stripes disappear gently into a neutral shelf and reward a second look. Leave space around her; a single figure with air around it feels more intentional than a crowded shelf.

In a reading corner

A reading corner is about comfort and pause. Set one or two bunnies on a side table beside a lamp and a cup of tea, or on a windowsill near your chair. Celeste and Sol work well here, bringing soft colour to a space that is mostly wood, wool and paper.

On a dresser

On a dresser or chest of drawers, pair a bunny with a small tray, a ceramic dish or a framed print. Theo, with his height, gives the arrangement a natural high point. Rosa, sitting beside a linen runner or a stoneware vase, adds warmth without competing with the other objects.

On a studio shelf

In a workspace, a bunny becomes a quiet companion between jars of brushes, spools of thread or a stack of sketchbooks. A small reminder that things made slowly and by hand are worth keeping close while you work.

Seasonal styling

Because the outfits are removable, the bunnies can shift with the seasons. Bring Sol and Celeste forward in spring and summer, Mia and Luna in the darker months, and Rosa for something gentle in between. Rotating which bunnies are on display, and how they are dressed, keeps a familiar shelf feeling fresh.

Caring for your bunnies

As decorative pieces, the bunnies need very little, but a few habits help them keep their colour and shape:

  • Keep them out of strong direct sunlight, which can soften the colours of cotton yarn over time.
  • Dust gently with a soft, dry brush, or give them a light shake.
  • If a mark appears, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, reshape gently and let the bunny dry flat. Do not tumble dry.
  • Avoid humid places such as bathrooms or damp windowsills.
  • Handle the removable outfits with care when changing them, easing them on and off rather than pulling.

The family discount

One bunny can easily call for another. When you add two or more bunnies to your basket, a 15% family discount is applied automatically, with no code needed.

Each piece is prepared in 1–3 business days and sent with tracked shipping in a protective box; between 23 November and 24 December, please allow 3–5 business days. Shipping is free to mainland Portugal and mainland Spain from 35 €, to central EU countries from 60 €, and to Denmark, Finland and Sweden from 95 €. Returns are free within 30 days, and we provide the return label.

A small family for a considered home

The Nyra Bunny Family sits comfortably between craft and collection: soft in material, deliberate in design, and made one at a time in Porto. Whether you begin with a single bunny for a reading corner or gather the whole family along a shelf, each brings a little texture and a little calm to the room.

If you enjoy crochet in the home more broadly, our guide to styling handmade crochet as art has more ideas for living with it.

If one of them has already found a place in your mind, you can take your time and meet all six in the Nyra Bunny Family collection.
