The piece

Suspenso Terra is a large, one-of-a-kind macramé wall hanging, made by hand in Portugal and signed by Sónia Bizarro. Three draped panels of cord, from deep brown through warm caramel to soft taupe and grey, hang from a long natural wooden branch tied with knotted rope at each end. Soft swags run along the top and a long fringe falls below, swaying gently when air moves through the room.

At 170 cm wide it is made for a large wall: above a three-seat sofa, a double bed or a long sideboard, or as a calm focal point in a hallway, a studio or a hospitality space. As a guide, hang it so the fringe ends 20 to 30 cm above the back of the sofa or the headboard. Its earthy tones sit easily with linen, oak, plaster and stone.
