About the work

Refrain began as a painted canvas. Sónia Bizarro framed it in wood, painted the frame by hand and then wove sixteen squares of macramé cord across the surface.

The colours move in columns, from soft taupe through rust and brick to deep earth brown. Each square repeats the same handmade gesture, so small variations of line and texture are part of the piece.

Cadence — Hand-Embroidered Thread Art on Canvas

99,00 €

Cadence shares Refrain’s language of vertical lines: a hand-embroidered canvas where every line is a beat of red, mustard, olive green and dusty pink, stitched in wool on stretched canvas.
